Station 6: Fascinating sciences

High-current transformer

The secondary current of a loaded transformer depends on the number of turns of both coils, which can be used to generate high currents. By selecting coils with the respective numbers of turns, a high current transformer produces a current that brings actually thick pieces of metal to glow or even to melt.

Wimshurst influence machine

Historical device for generation of highvoltage to carry out many impressive electrostatic experiments.

Van-de-Graaff generator, 230V/50Hz

Compact unit for production of high direct voltage.
